The Future of Gaming Consoles – Playstation 4 Already?
Upcoming Gaming Consoles – The Playstation 4
Rumors have spread quite fast about Sony confirming that they will be releasing a PS4 in the near future. It may sound very exiting but the reality is that with the recent leap in technology, the leading consoles are not due for an upgrade yet. We have seen great improvements on the performance and functionality of consoles, so we would expect future consoles to be jam packed with new technology, performance and flashy features. Some rumors include the PS4 having touch screen technology, full 3d gaming, 3d motion sensors, and of course a powerful graphics and performance boost.
Sony has always tried to stay in front of this forever growing market, to avoid a huge drop in their best selling PS3 console Sony will have to wait a bit longer before they release their new console to the market. Rumors of Sony’s competitors the Wii and Xbox360 have also been working on their new consoles to hit the market in the near future, and will probably be around the same time. Although PS3 is considered the leader in consoles, the Xbox and Wii both outsold the PS3 due to their wider market of users, so Sony will definitely try to dominate the console along with catering for a broader market. Despite the PS3 slightly lower sales, it is still the most popular gaming console on the market because of its amazingly large number of game titles and its unique blue-ray feature unique only to Sony.
With the new 3d technology and realistic HD displays console are surely becoming truly powerful multimedia machines. With the combination of features and ease of use, the future consoles will definitely be a worthy competitor against powerful desktop gaming computers which was not possible before. The market’s main concern should be the price they will have to pay to own the latest console along with the pricy HD system needed to display the true power of the consoles. You could also expect the new age console to have massive storage devices and high quality playback abilities along with blue-ray and advance 3d technology, making the new consoles even more powerful entertainment systems.
It is not yet clear on how the PS4 would look, but a number of “bogus” prototypes have been appearing over the internet. It will be interesting to see if the new Playstation will have the iconic “dual-shock” gamepad, the same design they kept since the first Playstation. My guess is; console fans will have to wait another good year or two for the PS4 to hit the shelves. We can expect Sony’s top competitors to bring out their new consoles around the same time. For now the console gamers will have to stick to their PS3,Wii or Xbox360. With all the great technology and HD quality now available; I think the market isn’t ready for an upgrade yet.
