Believe it or not, I’m still alive and my plans to relaunch Trend Spike are coming along nicely. Doing some touch ups to the new template design today, and that should be finished tonight. I still haven’t found a new logo, and I’ve been running multiple contests that have each received dozens of entries. Maybe I’m just too picky?
After the design is set, the coding will begin, along with all the new added features. Trend Spike will become a Men’s Online Magazine….blog inspired. I am hiring a few writers to write content for Trend Spike as regular contributors (2-4 times per month). If you feel like you’re a good candidate, go ahead and shoot me an email via the contact page. I myself will only be able to write about 3 articles a week, since I do work full-time and go to school. I want Trend Spike to be producing 5-7 articles a week…not to mention continuous updates to the new features which I’ll be taking care of. Therefore, it would best if this blog had a team of 5 or so writers.
For all of you bloggers out there, have you entered “WTW’s Craziest Internet Marketing Contest You’ve Ever Seen?” It comes to an end tonight, and I’m hoping I can come out with a few prizes. I wouldn’t mind winning the OIOpublisher and the free CSS coding, for obvious reasons…and who could argue with winning a cash prize? Lol. I’m normally not a big fan of contests myself, but this one was just too big, and it had too many prizes that could really boost the effectiveness of my relaunch effort.
So anyway, there you have it. Keep checking back, because you won’t want to miss the relaunch, trust me! Or just subscribe and you’ll get the relaunch post right in your email. ![]()

I know exactly how you feel…going to school full-time and everything. I’m in the same boat…and I’m dealin’ with 4 websites right now. But its glad to hear from you…thought you dropped off the face of the earth, lol. I’m struggling with my new templates man…still posting though, and i’ll get that worked out as I go along.

Let those of us waiting to see what you come up with be your inspiration as you plug along. I’m sure that it’s going to be fantastic. The fact that you’re attempting to be so well organized beforehand is a good sign of that.

dont you think your spending too much time trying to perfect something rather than build it in the meantime?
I mean your logo and theme was already great… what is more important is regular posting.. i woulnt be surprised if you lost many readers by this long delay.
i will admit though, i am curious!

Jason reply on April 7, 2008:
Surprisingly, according to Feedburner, I’ve actually gained subscribers over the weeks. I’m not too worried about it. Perfecting the image of Trend Spike is my number one priority right now.
I’m not just relaunching as the same blog, with a different look. There will be a ton of added features, which I won’t go into detail about yet. I plan to eventually compete with the big players in my niche.. askmen.com for example. My goal is to combine the style and features of an online magazine, with the personality and interaction of a blog.
I’ll be spending a few thousand dollars on advertising, which definitely isn’t easy money for me. So until the new site is ready to be taken to that next level, I won’t be relaunching it.
I did however find my new logo recently! Big thanks to Jonathon at Archon-Digital.com for that. So that step is completed, lol.
You’re right though Joe, regular posting is extremely important. Once Trend Spike goes live again, expect to see 5+ articles a week.
I like to look at the past couple months as a soft launch for Trend Spike…just a taste of what’s to come.
Mike Stoute reply on April 9, 2008:
I agree with Joe T, you don’t get many changes to make and good impression.
Now with all of this “hype” behind it, if you don’t impress everyone you may lose more..
….and damn that was a long comment, lmao.

Success for you

How long till you start posting again? Linking with a blog who does not update is going to negatively affect our rankings soon if it hasn’t already.. I’s been almost a month.

I agree with Stoute. Go ahead and delete this like you did my last post if you want but my friend but why make such big changes? I think what people really love about your website is the simplicity of it. Why change something good? I take that back, why change something great? You have built up so much hype yet no response on your progress. When you do ever come back and it didn’t live up to the hype, there will be very negative feedback and you will look bad. You talk the talk but can you walk the walk?

Typo on line 2! Ignore the first “but” lol
@Mike - Hey, I’ve sent you an email regarding the link/banner.
@XingXi - Hello XingXi, not sure what other comment you’re referring to. It may have been marked off as spam (accidentally?). Thanks for your feedback. I know this “down-time” may have a negative effect with those who have already become regular readers, but I’m pretty confident with my future plans, and I’m trying to think long-term. This relaunch is better done now (in the first few months of the blog’s life, rather than a year from now, when I hope to have thousands of regular readers). Hopefully, everyone who has enjoyed the articles on Trend Spike so far, will continue to return once the site has more stability. Relaunch is taking a lot longer than expected, but I guess that’s the way it always happens. Still waiting on design changes from the designer.

Ha, just noticed that you finally registered your own (domain) name. That site looks a lot better than your first portfolio did. Your logo looks awesome. I’m telling you, you need to start a blog..maybe about graphic design?
Yeah I did that awhile back…I thought I told you? The front page is based off Flash Action Scripting 3.0 and the video is Adobe After Effects which is the coolest program ever.
